Spring is here and now is the time to tackle those backyard jobs that make your property so beautiful in the late Spring and Summer months ahead. If you have deep slopes or hillsides on your property this could cause a erosion problem that can make your yard a muddy mess.
So what do you do to tackle the job of your hillside landscaping? Do you plant grass seed to help prevent any erosion that may be caused by rain storms. Anyone who has used a lawnmower on a deep slope or hillside knows that this may not be the best solution. Many attempts at hillside landscaping by the not so experienced gardener can end up with lots of time and money wasted.

In the zone in which I often work it is recommended that you don't grade a slope or hill to 33 degrees or more. The reason is that at 33 degrees the erosion stops dramatically and becomes a non issue. Retaining walls are also a good way to add visual levels in a backyard space.
